uPVC vs Aluminium Windows: Which Is Right for Your Home?
Insulation
uPVC's multi-chambered profile is a better insulator than bare aluminium by a wide margin. If your priority is a cooler room and a smaller electricity bill, it starts ahead.
Thermally broken aluminium inserts a polyamide barrier between the inner and outer skins and closes most of that gap — at a higher price.
Span and sightlines
Aluminium is stronger, so it carries bigger glass on a slimmer frame. For a full-height slider onto a balcony, that strength is not a luxury, it is the requirement.
Maintenance and lifespan
uPVC never needs painting and does not corrode; quality profiles are UV-stabilised for Indian sun. Powder-coated aluminium is equally low-maintenance, and both outlast timber comfortably near the coast.
So which one
Bedrooms, kitchens and standard openings in a hot climate: uPVC. Large living-room spans, minimal frames and a view worth framing: aluminium. Most homes end up using both, and that is the right answer.
